this idiom used to talk about tough or difficult situations  

For example 

A:Are you sure you want to enter this competition? 

B:positive 

A:You could hurt yourself it's going to be an uphill battle 

B:I'm fully aware. That doesn't scare me!

Person A: Because you are in trauma after getting fired from your dream's job..

Person B: Make sure l will succeed.

Person B: I don't believe it. It will be an uphill battle pal.

Person A: I lose everything so that doesn't make sense nowadays.

When we were children  we  used to think that the life is always fun , but now we do know it's an uphill battle evry day. 

Umm , that should make us more tough to come over our challenges
